![]() ![]() ![]() I personally think reading this book helped me realise the reality of the world we live in today. Throughout the entire book there is a strange kind of feeling of shock throughout the book and near the end of the book there is a sad & joyous feeling because Ben dies and they take over the other camp. This was done to help Danny evolve into the personality he has at the end of the book. I think this was done to make Danny learn the basics of life at an early age and let him adapt to his surroundings slowly at first but then rapidly. ![]() ![]() Danny’s mum was killed very soon in the book while his dad tried to keep himself together but he died shortly afterwards. The plot is fixed around Danny trying to keep alive take care of Ben and Kim and still cope with the death of both his parents. All this is tied around a plot in which Danny is trying to cope with the devastation from the nuclear bomb. This is done so we could relate to the weather and the feelings of the northwest area. I think this was done to show us what would happen to a town like ours because we know what it’s like to live in that kind of weather and climate. All of these characters are set in “Skipley” but I think it is supposed to be Shipley in N.West Lancashire. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These two Sapphic fragments, translated by Anita George and published in Poetry magazine in 1994, provide an insight into Sappho’s reputation as a love poet. Sappho then addresses Anactoria, the ‘army wife’ of the poem’s title, telling her that the sound of her returning footsteps would move the poet more than the sight of any cavalry or infantry soldiers … She uses Helen of Troy, praised as the face that launched a thousand ships, as an example in support of her argument: Helen’s beauty brought about the Trojan War. This is a love poem in several senses of the term: Sappho rejects the idea that military force is the finest thing on earth, instead expressing the opinion that love is more beautiful and powerful than the military might of armies and fleets. In this short lyric, which is translated in various ways, the poet laments her lonely state: the Pleiades (the cluster of stars also known as the Seven Sisters) are set, the moon is down, and the sky is dark at midnight. ![]() ![]() ![]() In between, Radke considers the persistent, pernicious attitude toward women’s bodies as things to critique. ![]() Heather Radke shares why now was the perfect time for a thoughtful exploration of this cheeky topic. ![]() The feelings we have about butts are almost always indicative of other feelings-feelings about race, gender, and sex.” Radke explores the societal forces that underlie such feelings as she guides readers on an impressively well-researched tour of butts throughout history, beginning with a functional analysis (hominids and horses take center stage) and ultimately alighting in the present (twerking, social media and celebrity butts). In her fascinating and frank debut, Butts: A Backstory, journalist Heather Radke ponders why this body part is so polarizing, the collective cultural obsession so enduring.Īs the author notes in her introduction, “Butts are a bellwether. ![]() ![]() This egalitarian society was also incredibly diverse, comprising of people of different religions and nations. ![]() GK created a hitherto unprecedented egalitarian society where men and some women (more on this later) advanced through “individual merit, loyalty and achievement”, instead through birth and aristocratic privilege. Free trade as human right is still a pretty iffy concept, anyway.Ģ. As for the free trade thing, it was more of a byproduct of the commercial opportunities that developed along the Silk Road (“history’s largest free-trade zone”), once the interior of the Eurasian landmass became safe enough to travel under the Pax Mongolica. His own immediate family was religiously diverse: besides those who were Shamanists or Buddhists, a significant number were Monophysite Christians - and later also Muslim converts. He also granted religious freedom within his realm, though he demanded total loyalty from conquered subjects of all religions. ![]() GK forbade the use of torture in trials and as punishment. Genghis Khan was an advocate of human rights, specifically freedom of religion, freedom from torture and free trade (he got two of the Four Freedoms right, which is pretty impressive by medieval standards, especially when they still, like, burned heretics and unbelievers in Europe and elsewhere). Genghis Khan and his Mongol Horde were good news for the world. ![]() ![]() ![]() This also applies to you posting on behalf of your friend/family member/neighbor. ![]() ![]() Personal benefit includes, but is not limited to: financial gain from sales or referral links, traffic to your own website/blog/channel, karma farming, critiques or feedback of your work from the community, etc. Interactions should not primarily be for personal benefit.
